A Safe Word is something that you or your partner will use if a sexual situation gets too uncomfortable. The word that my husband and I chose is ‘violin.’  We chose that word as a means to communicate with each other if we should get into a situation that we’d rather not be in. The word that you choose should definitely be a word that you would not normally call out during the height of ecstasy.

Now, that I’m writing this post I realized that we’ve never discussed a safe word with the couples that we have played with. Think about it, who has the largest margin for error when it comes to knowing your boundaries? Certainly, not your spouse or long time partner. A safe word might be your ticket to being able to try new things with the knowledge that the action can be stopped at any time.

What is your safe word?
